| A complete
transfer of Scottish aquaculture planning powers from the Crown
Commissioners to local authorities will not happen till the next
Scottish Parliament is formed, the
Executive said in a parliamentary
committee 22 May.
Aquaculture minister Allan Wilson
outlined the Executive’s response to the interim report of inquiry
into aquaculture to the Transport and Environment Committee.
In his submission, Mr Wilson pointed
out that while the Executive remained “committed to introducing the
necessary controls”, which have widespread backing from the
industry, the forthcoming Water Environment and Water Services Bill,
which had first been mooted for the change, was not the right
vehicle. |
