RELEASE OF BRS FISHERIES STATUS REPORT
The Bureau of Rural Sciences today (Monday Sep 30) released the 2000-01 Commonwealth Fisheries Status Report.

The Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) produces annual fishery status reports to provide governments and the community with independent reviews of stock status for Commonwealth-managed fish stocks.

Fisheries and Marine Sciences
This overview summarises the detailed information from the main fishery chapters. Readers should refer to those detailed accounts to put the comments in this overview into perspective. In addition to the detailed accounts on the main fisheries there are also chapters containing brief accounts of a range of other Commonwealth-managed fisheries including those in Australia's external territories.
