Media Release
South Australian fishing industry participants will have
access to the latest information on research and development
activities in their State with the launch of the South
Australian Fisheries Research Advisory Board's (SAFRAB's)
new website.
Details of the recently
published SA Fisheries and Aquaculture 5-Year R&D Strategy
are featured, along with a wealth of other useful
information.
SAFRAB Chairman, Mr Richard
Stevens said the website strengthens communication of the
Board's activities with all stakeholders and serves the
consistent aim of developing an informed approach to R&D in
this important industry while strengthening collaborative
links between stakeholders.
"SAFRAB is all about
encouraging our stakeholders to look for and implement
innovative ways of improving their business so it is
important that we 'practice what we preach' and take
advantage of new communication technologies", said Mr
Stevens.
"The site provides up to date
information on the fishing industry in South Australia, the
role of the SAFRAB, South Australia's fishery environment
and ecology, research priorities and a user-friendly guide
for funding applicants.
"The Fisheries Research and
Development Corporation (FRDC) has strongly supported the
initiative in recognition of the important role that all
State FRABs play in FRDC's funding process and the strategic
development of our national fisheries.
Mr Stevens reiterated that
the fishing industry continues to strive for higher
intellectual and commercial partnerships among key
stakeholder groups and FRDC's role in supporting the work of
all State FRABs has been pivotal.
