ARCHITECTURAL
drawings for Bacchus Marsh's $4m Science and
Technology Innovations Centre are likely to be
presented to the public next month.
The centre, at Bacchus Marsh College's
Maddingley Campus, will provide specialist
facilities for horticulture, aquaculture and
viticulture studies as well as expand the
school's hospitality Vocational Education and
Training program.
The building will be designed to be energy
efficient, with community facilities - including
meeting rooms - also available for use.
The facility is a partnership between the
State Government, the college, the University of
Ballarat TAFE and Moorabool Shire.
Suzanne Clark, senior project officer for the
project on behalf of the Department of Education
and Training, said the department and the
college's council had approved the final
drawings from architects Lyons.
A meeting between Lyons and Moorabool Shire
would set a date for a community meeting on the
centre.
"We are hoping the meeting will be early
February, but we'll need to confirm that with
all parties.
"The architects
would be in attendance and so will I and the
shire.
"The meeting will be open to the community
and the designs will be presented to the
community."
Ms Clark was hopeful the tender process for
the project would begin in the next couple of
months, with construction from May.
"We've allowed 12 months (for construction)
... we are hoping it will take nine."
Moorabool councillor and member of the
project steering committee Di McAuliffe said
those linked to the project were keen to see it
viewed as an asset for the whole community, not
just for the school. |
