Strategic plan for Arno |
|
|
|
The expected rapid expansion
of Arno Bay has prompted the community into developing a
plan for future housing, industrial and commercial
development within the township.
The Arno Bay Progress Association is calling a community
meeting to discuss a strategic plan it has developed for the
next 10 to 15 years.
Progress association president Neil Wickstein said various
areas are available for development in Arno Bay and the
expected expansion of the aquaculture industry has
necessitated the need to try and develop some of them.
"It's (aquaculture) snuck up on us and we need to do
something about it," he said.
The strategic plan will identify areas for residential,
industrial and commercial development but Mr Wickstein
stressed the community would be consulted every step of the
way.
"We're (progress association) promoting the plan, but the
community ultimately needs to make the decisions as to where
things go."
He said as people are speculating about future populations,
something needed to be done now so the town has a plan for
the future.
"We're saying this is what could happen, now how can we make
it happen."
Representatives from the aquaculture industry, town planners
and Cleve District Council will speak at the meeting to give
people a clearer understanding of what is possible and what
isn't.
The meeting will be in the Arno Bay Hall on Monday, March 10
at 7.30pm and anyone with an interest in the future of Arno
Bay is welcome to attend. |
