Update |
|
|
With almost 100 news articles
added for the month of March, the GROWfish
website continues towards becoming one of the
worlds leading website sources for
FREE
Aquaculture news and information. |
Paid
Membership for GROWfish website not planned.
A number of the other high quality fishing and
aquaculture related sites have gone to paid
membership systems. We have been asked on
numerous occasions when we intend to adopt this
approach and wish to advise that GAIN has "NO
Plans", to implement a paid membership system
for use of the GROWfish website. GAIN derives
it's revenue from advertising, sponsorship and
membership of GAIN itself. GAIN intends the
website to be a source of reliable information
for the industry and provides it as a free
service to members and non-members alike. With
site traffic now in excess of
100,00 a month and several thousand
subscribers (and growing) we now have an
established user base that provides a targeted
marketing platform for advertisers and
sponsors.

As
you can see we have reduced the number of graphics
and have not any included photos in this months
edition of the GROWfish eNewsletter. This has been
done to reduce the file size of each email.
As mentioned above we have added around 100
Aquaculture news articles this month. It has been
very noticeable over the past year how prevalent
the subject of Aquaculture is becoming and there
is a continual increase in the amount of material
available and the amount that is sent to us. Our
new database managed website (see below) is on
schedule for launch around the end of April and
this will provide us with the facility to manage a
far greater amount of information and to process
additional news resources.
Portal
System Update
Earlier this month we reported on the website that we are
currently in the process of implementing a new
Portal style management system for the
GROWfish website. Based on current progress,
we expect that this new system will be
operational around the end of April. Our
statistical information tells us that many
users refer to a large number of the older
articles that are included in the archives. It
has been decided that due to the usage of this
information, all archive information will be
included in the new system, which of course
takes considerable time to complete.
The new system will
allow us to have a number of content editors
and administrators and will include numerous
new features for users. In addition to the new
management tools some of the user features
include: member site registration, who's
online, link rating & ranking,
new/hot/popular, user listing & content
submission, ad tracking for advertisers,
ecommerce, discussion forums, events calendar
with event registration, surveys & polls,
classified ads sections, chat & conference
facilities, automated newsletter signup and
more news & articles. Further information and
a final release date will be advised shortly.
We trust that you will enjoy this issue of the
GROWfish eNewsletter and welcome any comments,
suggestions or feedback.
