Blue Archipelago to operate RM150 million shrimp farm
PJ Blue Archipelago Bhd, a local shrimp aquaculture company, will operate a RM150 million processing farm in Setiu, Terengganu soon.
Chief Executive Officer Dr Shahridan Faiez said the company, which operates a shrimp farm in Kerpan, Kedah, would emerge a direct seller of the seafood once the 1,000 hectare farm commences operations.
He said the new farm is expected to contribute RM100 million in revenue to the company's bottom line by June next year.
The Kerpan farm currently sells fresh shrimps to third party processors.
"It harvests about 1,500 tonnes of premium black tiger shrimps, annually," he told reporters after a seminar on the outlook for the US shrimp and seafood market here Monday.
