Opportunity for comment on draft Translocation Protocol
The Victorian DPI has released the Draft Victorian Translocation Protocol for Commercial Freshwater Open Aquaculture Systems on Private Land (PDF 442KB) for comment from stakeholders.
The draft protocol establishes standards and controls that manage the biosecurity risks associated with the translocation of fish to commercial freshwater open aquaculture systems.
The draft protocol covers the two main types of commercial freshwater open aquaculture systems in Victoria categorised as either flow-through (e.g. trout farming) or static (e.g. Murray cod in farm dams).
The draft protocol was developed with the aid of an expertise-based panel with knowledge about the risks and control measures necessary to manage translocation and stocking of commercial open systems. The draft translocation protocols has been developed in accordance with the Guidelines for Assessing Translocations of Live Aquatic Organisms in Victoria.

Risk Assessment Proforma The Risk Assessment Proforma should only be completed if an Initial Screening Application has been submitted and assessed by Fisheries Victoria.
