Lorestan’s fish output exceeds 5000 tons
Last year, a total of 5,321 tons of warm-water and cold-water fishes were produced in fish ponds of Lorestan.
Most of Lorestan’s fish farms raise rainbow trout and various dace species.
Meanwhile, some 40 million rainbow trout fingerlings were produced and distributed among fish farmers of Lorestan and other provinces.
The industry also created 172 jobs last year while, in the said period, the Agricultural Jihad Organization spent Rls.12.86 billion on training more fish farmers as well as on promoting the industry all across the province. According to an official in Lorestan’s Fishery Office, fish farming industry in this western province is capable of reaching an annual output of 23,500 tons.
Mohammad Hatamvand stated that Lorestan is the main producer of rainbow trout.
