EPB chief meets Sindh CM
Tariq Ikram, chairman, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Friday held a meeting with Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar, chief minister Sindh, and discussed issues relating to the development of fish farming and infrastructure.
Mr Mahar agreed that fish and shrimp farming were a major source of fish export and could provide much employment to the people,aid a press release issued here.
Mr Ikram discussed a focused approach to progress fish and shrimp farming to benefit from the opportunity and progressive resolution of issues faced by prospective entrepreneurs and joint venture partners, it added.
The meeting was told that various feasibility studies for fish and shrimp farming had been made in the last many years by different public and private sector organisations. There is s need for one auditable quality pre-feasibility report for Sindh. Such a report would be the basis of encouraging Pakistani investors and attracting joint ventures and technical collaboration with countries like Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
It was also agreed that a further meeting should be held with the provincial minister of fisheries.
Mr Ikram also discussed matters relating to conditions of roads and availability of water for textile and garment industries. Mr Mahar assured that repair of roads will be completed. —Staff Report
